Whyzies

Privacy notice

Last updated 25 October 2026. Whyzies is made for children aged 4–10 and the grown-ups who look after them, so we keep data to the minimum the games need.

What stays on your device

A child's first name or nickname, age group, game progress, stars, coins, stickers, settings and parental controls are saved in your browser on that device. Deleting the player in Grown-ups, or clearing the browser's site data, removes it.

What reaches our servers

WhatWhenWhy
Each child's profile (nickname, age group, progress, settings)Only if a grown-up turns on the family dashboardTo show progress on your phone, sync between your devices, and deliver cheers, prizes and controls you send
Anonymous play data: which games were played, answers right or wrong, response times, taps that missedOnly if a grown-up turns on "Help improve the games"To find what's too hard or confusing and fix it. Linked to a random device code, never a name
Visit counts: page visited, country and city (from the internet connection), device type, and the site that linked to usEvery visitTo understand how people find Whyzies. No cookies are used and IP addresses are not stored; visitors are counted with a code that changes every day. We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page visits and page speed without cookies and without tracking anyone across sites
Error reports: what broke, on which screen, browser versionWhen something goes wrongTo fix bugs. No names or device codes are included
A parent's email addressOnly if you add one when joining the Plus waitlistTo tell you about early access and the launch of Plus

Who can see it

Family dashboard data can be seen by anyone with your family's private link or code, so keep it to yourselves. Our developers can see the anonymous play data, visit counts and error reports to improve the games. Data is stored with Cloudflare, our hosting provider. We don't share it with anyone else.

Children's privacy

We designed Whyzies around children's privacy laws such as COPPA in the United States and the UK Children's Code: no behavioural advertising, no profiling for marketing, data sharing off by default, and grown-ups in control of anything optional.

How long we keep it

WhatKept for
Anonymous play data and error reports90 days, then deleted automatically
Visit countsAbout 13 months, then deleted automatically
Messages sent from the family dashboardUntil delivered, and at most 90 days
Family dashboard profiles and a waitlist emailUntil you delete them, turn the dashboard off, or ask us to

Why we use it

Anything optional (the family dashboard, sharing play data, a waitlist email) is used because a grown-up chose to switch it on, and can be switched off again at any time. Visit counts and error reports are used because we have a legitimate interest in keeping the service working and understanding how it's found; they contain no names. Game levels adapt to each child only to pick the right difficulty. We never use data for advertising or profiling for marketing.

Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, runs servers around the world, so data may be processed outside your country. Cloudflare is bound by data-protection terms that protect it.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete the data we hold about your family, or object to how we use it, by emailing us. You also have the right to complain to your data-protection regulator (for example the Information Regulator in South Africa, the ICO in the UK, or your local authority in the EU), though we'd like the chance to help first.

Deleting your data

Delete a player in Grown-ups on the device; with the family dashboard on, that also removes them from our servers. Turning off "Help improve the games" stops play data straight away. To have everything about your family deleted, contact us and include your family code.

Changes and contact

If this notice changes we'll update the date above, and tell waitlist families about anything important. Questions or requests: hello@whyzies.com.
